Is your child scared of the dentist?

Our sedation dentistry is the painless solution for healthy teeth.

If your child is extremely anxious about going to the dentist, then sedation dentistry is a fabulous solution! Types of Sedation:

Oral sedation

With this type of sedation, your child will be required to drink a small amount of sedative medicine at our office prior to the dental procedure. This medication will NOT put your child totally to sleep. It is meant to provide a relaxed state to the mildly apprehensive child that will allow the doctor to complete the necessary treatment.

Oral sedation is appropriate for healthy children with uncomplicated medical histories. It is a great option for those children who need just a few dental restorations that may take the doctor 30-45 minutes. The amazing benefit is that your child will be able to have all their dental treatment completed at this one sedation visit and not be traumatized!

Our office has a licensed anesthesiologist on staff who will safely provide IV sedation for your child right in our office! This type of sedation is appropriate for the more extreme apprehensive child and those who may need extensive dental work completed that will generally take 60 minutes or more to complete. With this type of deep sedation, your child will be totally asleep and will have no recollection of the procedure. All necessary treatment (including X-rays) can be completed at this one visit. One additional benefit is that when your child wakes up, they will not be numb since "Novocain" is not necessary when a child is asleep. (of course, if extractions are needed, "novacaine" is necessary for appropriate post-op comfort.)

This type of sedation is performed at LIJ/Cohen's Children's Hospital by a licensed anesthesiologist in the operating room. This type of anesthesia is most appropriate for very small children, and for those who may be medically compromised or have extensive dental needs
